Following Dreams is Essential for Entrepreneurs

As an entrepreneur, pursuing dreams [and ideas] is often the driving force behind starting a new venture. The importance of following dreams and ideas can be attributed to several reasons:

Passion and motivation: Dreams and ideas inspire entrepreneurs to remain motivated and passionate about their venture. This passion often leads to greater commitment and perseverance when faced with challenges.

Innovation and creativity: Pursuing dreams and ideas encourages entrepreneurs to think creatively and innovate. This often results in the development of unique products, services, or business models that can distinguish them from competitors.

Vision and goal-setting: Dreams and ideas help entrepreneurs create a vision and set goals for their venture. Clear goals serve as a roadmap to guide the business and measure progress over time.

Risk-taking and resilience: Entrepreneurs who follow their dreams are more likely to take calculated risks, embrace uncertainty, and demonstrate resilience in the face of setbacks or failures.

Personal fulfillment and satisfaction: Pursuing one’s dreams and ideas can lead to a sense of personal fulfillment and satisfaction, making the entrepreneurial journey more enjoyable and rewarding.

Inspiration to others: When entrepreneurs follow their dreams and succeed, they can inspire others to do the same, fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.

While following dreams and ideas is important for entrepreneurs, it is equally important to maintain a balance between pursuing these aspirations and making sound business decisions. Entrepreneurs must be realistic, adaptable, and willing to pivot when necessary to ensure the long-term success of their venture.

However, I am amazed that some people, and more than you might imagine will go to great lengths to intentionally convince others their ideas or what they are doing will not work. Their actions are typically based upon some deep jealousy or envy that they’re not involved. As well, they may even resent not being invited to participate in initial brainstorming or asked to share their perspective.

Instead of showing support with words of encouragement or helping to champion the ideas on behalf of the friend or colleague, or offering another set of eyes and ears should the need occur, they work extra hard to cast negativity. Often they proactively initiate efforts, almost as a campaign of sorts against the idea — all the while coming across as a trusted friend or colleague.

I wonder how many fantastic ideas have gone by the wayside as a result of these types of senseless actions?

To this point, I highly recommend entrepreneurs stay committed to their ideas. They should believe in their own thought process but should thoroughly evaluate opinion, suggestions and recommendations of others. However, entrepreneurs should take all with a grain of salt and not heed advice until their gut and intuition displays the path to follow.

Then, it is imperative entrepreneurs follow their vision and fuel their passion with relentless commitment. That is what it will take to turn ideas into successful endeavors. A critical point is not allowing anyone to cast influence over one’s own dreams.
