Imagine the wave of emotions that immigrants felt when they first saw the Statue of Liberty upon entering New York Harbor. Filled with hope for a better life, they felt proud to be in America, the land of freedom and bravery.
While they never forgot their heritage, they were eager for the opportunities ahead, including the chance to become American citizens. They had no sense of entitlement, only a determination to work tirelessly to provide for their families and achieve the American Dream. Failure was not an option.
It’s incredible what they accomplished despite poor living conditions, little food, and the challenge of not speaking English. They persevered with no excuses and succeeded in many ways. Our society today could benefit from that same attitude, determination, and commitment.
